Governance Roles

The affairs of APCA shall be managed by an Executive Committee consisting of the
following seven members:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Three ordinary members.
  • The Executive Committee will be elected by members of APCA at the Annual General Meeting.
  • The inaugural executive committee will be elected by founding members through consensus or raise of hands.
  • The Executive Committee will hold office for a period of three years.
  • The Executive Committee shall have the power to co-opt additional members as required.

Meetings

  • The Annual General Meeting of APCA will be held once a year.
  • Special General Meetings may be called by the Executive Committee or at the request of 25% of the members.
  • At least 21 days' notice shall be given of any General Meeting.
  • Quorum for General Meetings shall be 50% of the members.

Communications and Engagement

The Communication and Engagement portfolio oversees the internal and external communication and engagement of the association with its members, APCA Champions, academic community and the community at large. It is responsible for developing and implementing a communications plan and protocols. Communication channels include online newsletters, APCA website, Facebook, Magazine, online news and when opportunities arises, wider external media sources. The portfolio also oversees the archiving of past communication material. This also currently includes APCA Networking Events.

Amendments to the Constitution

  • This Constitution may be altered or amended by a two-thirds majority of members present and voting at a General Meeting.
  • Notice of any proposed amendment shall be given in writing to the Secretary not less than 30 days prior to the meeting.

Dissolution

  • APCA may be dissolved by a two-thirds majority of members present and voting at a General Meeting.
  • In the event of the dissolution of APCA, any surplus funds shall be donated to a registered charity with similar aims and objectives to APCA.

Interpretation

  • In this Constitution, unless the context otherwise requires, words importing the singular
    shall include the plural and vice versa, and words importing a gender shall include all
    genders.

Code of Conduct

APCA is committed to providing events that are safe and welcoming for all attendees, where all attendees are treated with respect and dignity and are free from discrimination and harassment. By registering to attend any APCA event, including but not limited to, webinars, networking events, conference sessions, social events and all APCA communication platforms, it is mandatory for all attendees to adhere to the Codes of Conducts outlined in the General Regulations and Code of Ethics. 

If anyone experiences or becomes aware of any violations, or potential violations of the above Code of Conduct, such instances should be reported to any APCA Executive Committee member, APCA event host, Conference Host or the Conference Manager. All reasonable precautions and endeavors will be used to protect the anonymity of persons reporting violations, or potential violations.

The APCA Executive Committee, APCA event hosts, Conference Hosts and Conference Managers, at their sole discretion, reserve the right to refuse entry to, or remove from the venue or virtual platform, at any time, any attendee not adhering to the above Code of Conduct or deemed to be causing, or potentially causing, a disturbance or exhibiting disruptive or inappropriate behavior. Such removal does not constitute a right to a refund of any fees paid, or a refund of any travel and accommodation expenses incurred for travel to the conference.  Not only will any offender forfeit their right to attend the conference, but they will also forfeit their right to deliver an oral or poster presentation at the conference.
